Mosquitoes are common visitors both here in Houston and in Norway. The name comes from Spanish meaning “little fly”. They are annoying, it might help to know that they don’t live very long…. Males live for about a week, feeding on nectar and other sources of sugar. So this is a female, they will also feed on sugar sources for energy but usually require a blood meal for the development of eggs. This one got ours…
This is a “one hand shot” – the mosquito is on the photographers left arm, leaving the right to hold the camera – so yes, a bit hard to focus ![]()
