The one that got away

The one that got away

It is not customary to showcase pictures that did not turn out as we envisaged.  We saw this palm frond while walking on the beach in Belize.  The tender colours and the textures of the frond against the coral sand and the patterns created by the ripples gave a strong visual experience.  The “pictures to be” looked perfect to our “inner eye” and was snapped.  However, it did not turn out.  We tried tone mapping, B&W and de-saturation but nothing could restore the capture to its intended glory.  We ended up with a bit of levels and curves to bring out the textures.

Sorry for the long winded story, but sometimes things just do not turn out as intended.  We still have the intended picture displayed for our inner eye, but nothing we can do can bridge the gap between intention and reality.  So this is “the one that got away”.
