70's Sunset

70’s Sunset

As we downloaded the pictures from a sunset session, we were reminded of the posters that were popular during the 1970’s.  For those of you old enough, can you remember the black siluetted, extreme orange sunset posters?

Well, here is our contribution to an art-form of the past.

This is an attempt on a “manual HDR” as ABC Photography has published in his tutorial.  We read the tutorial with great interest and wanted to try.

  1. And i think you did a great work like the tutorial shows up! It’s great to see and hear about experiments like yours – never stop testing and thinking about the own work grows up a good photographer. Fine!

  2. nope. too old to remember :) great graphic visual here though. seems that you’ve pulled out a goodly bit of the field w/ the HDR effect.

  5. A beautiful sunset, strong colors, and great processing. I hae to try that sometime too. Great blend of nature and industrial man made material here too.

  8. My memory had already started to fade by the 1970s because of what I got up to in the ’60s but this is a fine image in its own right. Interesting process, that layered HDR.

  11. I remember the colorful posters of the 70’s very well. Beautiful capture and stunning orange tones. The silhouettes are perfect and the high voltage towers are ominous. Excellent job composing and processing this image.

  14. Nice use of non-traditional subject matter for your silouettes. You manage to make power line towers and transmission lines attractive. And thanks for the link to ABC – I have glanced at it and bookmarked it for future fererence.

  15. Hmmm… I was born at the 80’s so I’m not sure what are you talking about.
The HDR effect here is not too intrusive and I like it – The colors are gorgeous :)

  19. Very well seen and taken. The colors, sharpness and subject are all really well done. Unfortunately, I do remember those posters. I think one hung in my crib? LOL

Great image. Keeping the color intact while shooting into the sun was very well done.
