Train Approaching

Train Approaching

Or actually not – This Union Pacific was parked on a sidetrack and did not approach us. It was standing perfectly still, in great contrast to the rails in front and the forest behind.  In a densely populated part of west Houston, Americas fourth largest city, and at one time a part of the wild west…
Processed in Topaz adjust to enhance the “grittiness” of the train.

.

  1. Wonderfully framed, love the vivid colors of the approching train … well done!

  2. The title fools the eye if that makes sense. I actually thought I saw a driver, but upon further inspection I realized it is just a really good photo with lots of insinuated motion.
    Cheers

  3. i like the implied sense of motion with this perspective & framing.. well done!

  4. I really like the intense colours. I can’t see a hogge through the window so it is best that the train is not moving :-)

  5. Not bad shot and composition. You successfully use strong photo treatment; famous details viewable. BRAVO.

  6. Excellent color and composition. I like how the train is apparently perpendicular to the rail in the foreground – like it would have to jump to proceed.

I have discovered some references to Topaz Adjust and am considering a purchase. I am glad to see some more subtle results that the examples they post on their site.

:) Flott utsnitt!

  10. That’s a magical train :) The colors absolutely stunning!
Great HDR I love the outcome.

  11. Incredible! I love trains in general, but love this one for its shape and color. I find the photo smooth despite the heavy processing. I wish you didn’t tell me it was stationary, because it really looks as though it is rounding the corner. I like the DERAIL sign too. It adds a mysterious little element. I have to find a cool train to shoot now. Great one!

  12. Looks almost like it is in hiding, waiting for the moment to merge. I am intrigued by that lever saying ‘Derail’ ?

  14. Great composition and processing, it is like the train is rounding the corner and coming straight at you. Very cool :)

  20. Misleading us with the title, was a good trick, it looks like it’s moving.
Wonder what the “derail” sign is for.

    AsgardrMarch 17th, 2009 at 12:04
  21. Great composition, and the way you have rendered the colors makes it look very vibrant! Nice shot!

  24. Great shot. I am quite a fan of trains. Beautiful colors.

I posted a shot of a vintage train and it’s crew today.

  28. I love the colors of the train, in a very good constrast with the green of the trees ! The train will stop before finish your picture ?

    cashondeoMarch 18th, 2009 at 14:59
  29. A burst of colour coming from behind those trees! But the track seems to be running from left to right… weird! :)

  30. This is a really good train ‘portrait’. I like trains and this is a beauty. Great color combinations – love the violet and green on the front windows complimenting the yellow / orange. Excellent composition!

Sitter her helt fengslet over alle detaljene i bildet, både i omgivelsene og på selve togsettet. Deilig bilde!
