The Andes

The Andes

This is taken at 4980m (16338 ft) in the Andes in Peru on a route named The Salcantay Trek.  This route is one of the lesser known and virtually void of tourists.  This is the highest point on this 7 day trek and at this altitude, even holding the camera was hard work.

What impressed us was the very obvious (and recent) moraines left by the receding glacier.  We should have gone closer to get a better view, but…….

.

  1. Beautiful. I can’t really say much more, it really is a stunning shot. At the same time it’s really sad to see the receeding glacier. Makes us think of what we’re doing to the planet….

  24. These montains are quite impressive. Though I’m living not so far, I’m not sure I would go there for a trekking. Thanks to you, I can travel there without effort :)

Spennende!
