The Butterfly II

The Butterfly II

This wonderful green butterfly is a Emerald Swallowtail (Papilio palinurus). It is also referred to as Emerald Peacock or Green-banded Peacock Swallowtail.
Did you know that there are approximately 20,000 species of butterflies in the world. About 725 species have occurred in North America north of Mexico. Go find them!

.

  1. I really enjoy the richness of details in this shot. Beautiful butterfly and the background is “just right” so it helps to bring focus to the butterfly itself.

  2. Wow…only greens in one shot. How special.

ow…and if there are 20,000 species of butterflies, how did you manage to find the correct name for this one? :)

Virkelig vakkert!

  16. Amazing! I prefer this one more than first butterfly shot. I like the contrast and sharpening, but the best for me is the color, all these green tones are superb!
