The Butterfly I

The Butterfly I

“Just living is not enough,’ said the butterfly, ‘one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower. “
- H.C. Andersen – 1862.

An adult butterfly has an average life-span of approximately one month. In the wild, most butterflieslives are shorter than this because of the dangers provided by predators, disease, and large objects, such as cars. The smallest butterflies may live only a week or so, while a few butterflies, such as Monarchs, Mourning Cloaks and tropical heliconians, can live up to nine months.
This butterfly is a Green Spotted Triangle (Graphium agamemnon)

.

Les hele fabelen her. H.C. Andersen – 1862.

  1. Beautiful colors and details in this picture. The blurred background nicely accentuates the features of the butterfly. Great work!

  8. The green spots on the wings and the “glasses” on your butterfly is cool!

(I just posted a very similar picture last night on my blog!)

  13. gosh.

  14. Praktfull sommerfugl i et like praktfullt bilde.

    God helg!

  17. Well composed, great color, no distracting details in the BG…….nicely done. I must say….your descriptions are often as interesting as your images…..don’t know how you manage enough time but however you do, the results are very fruitful. :) Well done.

    Takker for opplevelsen!

  25. Excellent shot. Mind giving me tech specs of equipment, zoom selected and distance from subject? Also, is it shot in natural light? If so, all the more impressive.
